Not the news I was expecting... nor are you ever prepared to hear 'you've got breast cancer'. (fyi, I still struggle saying and writing the 'c' word)
She was kind and compassionate, and held my hand as the tears welled up... and said that I'd be sad, angry, numb, scared, in denial, and possibly a few other feelings... but that's normal and okay. Then with determination, she said 'you've got this'... and '50% of what you're going through is right here'... pointing to my head. 'Be positive ~ it's so important!'
It's also so important to understand the feelings of grief, but to then realize treatments and the success rate are better now than ever. To understand there will be good days, but there will be bad days. "It's like a roller coaster ride, but there's no backing out"
