My world...

Another good week… busy, but good. Not much has changed overall… which is a good thing. There are all the little things, but no one really wants to hear about those, however, they are a part of this journey and this 'blog' is as much for me as it is for you, so I’ll be documenting some of the not-so-personal bits as well.

Who knew that platelets were something to keep track of? Not me… but I now know there are platelet-rich foods, and yes I make sure I keep them on the menu.

Here’s the backstory…

Before each treatment, labwork is necessary… and before Chemo #2, I saw my platelets were low. Ugh, worried about that I asked my Oncologist about eating platelet-rich foods… she said it may help, but it may not, but she assured me my levels were still okay. However, I decided to eat more ‘PR’ foods! And guess what ~ my platelets were up in the ‘normal’ range before Chemo #3. Related? Maybe, maybe not, but I’m taking credit for it anyway! So I will continue to eat PRF… beef, eggs, kale, brussel sprouts to name a few ~ it’s all good stuff!!

As you know, this is not a journey one goes alone… those closest to you are affected most and it’s so very hard on all of them. The hardest part right now is not only the physical distance between us, but that I HAVE to self-quarantine. However, like most right now we are relying on FaceTime, videos, pictures, calls, messages, and texts.

My World...

My Family is My World… each of them are so special to me in their own unique, amazing way!

My husband…

who is my everything. He’s never wavered since my diagnosis and is fighting this battle right beside me every step of the way. He’s my private uber, my chef, my everything... he is my #1 supporter… he is my rock!!

My daughter…

who spent a week here in November, away from her sweet little family after learning about my diagnosis, driving me to and from my ‘port’ appointment, cooking an amazing Thanksgiving Dinner, and spoiling me on my birthday… we had sooo soo much fun just hanging out together... candle-making, olive-brining, vanilla-distilling, just a few of our projects! Those days are priceless and I’m forever grateful for the amazing, caring, loving daughter that she is and always has been! Oh, and besides everything else she’s got going on, she’s also working on a ‘project’ to support my / our / this journey. <3

My son…

who spent a weekend here in November and after learning about my diagnosis, I was comforted by the kind, compassionate son that he is, and always has been. That weekend with his family was priceless! And then this week I woke up to a text from him knowing he was on-shift that night, and it immediately brought me to tears… here's how that went… “Hmmm… can’t sleep? What else would you do at 0300 hrs??? I believe it was Randy Travis who said, ‘Honey I don’t care, I ain’t in love with your hair and if it all fell out, I’d love you anyway.’ It was Aaron Banks that said… ‘Some don’t have a choice, bald is beautiful, support the fight, fuck cancer!’” <3

Well, if he can shave his head and share it, I guess I can share mine… it’s only fair!

Thank you G & B for the beautiful flowers… you, and them made my day!

Thank you everyone for the notes, messages, and texts... they, and you mean so much to me!

You rock as a baldy! Looking good. Such a tough journey but you are going forward day by day. Just think You don’t have to shave you legs or other body parts. Time saver. Keep up the positive attitude. In my prayers.
