It was a 'bad hair week'

However, I want to start by saying Happy New Year... here's to a better 2021!

I'm very thankful to still be feeling great, physically!! Still doing the same with lots of water... although I do flavor it more often as I find plain ole water is just not that tasty. Gatorade Zero is awesome, as are my new tea's from Teamotions!! Still enjoying my six mini meals a day, and still keeping as active as possible as one can indoors and in the backyard! The rainy day and cold days kept me indoors but prompted the purchase of our new treadmill... which is awesome. I've already walked the beaches of St. Lucia, the Plaka, the Grand Canyon and Central Park. So many walking adventures await me!

However, it was all about the hair this week.

And I thought maybe because I had sooo much to begin with, I'd be one of those people who wouldn't loose 'all' of it!

I was wrong.

Because in 5 short days, it was basically gone.

It came out just as they said it would... I just thought it'd take longer.

So yes, that was rough!

And it came out so easily... just a little pull and I had a handful,

just a little brush and I had a brushful.

So yes, that was tough!

It didn't hurt as it came out... because it was no longer attached. Like someone inside just opened up the roots and set it free. That someone is 'chemo'! I was told by my infusion nurse... chemo is a good drug, but it's a dumb drug... it doesn't know good cells from bad cells. Clearly she's right... it's dumb! But on the flipside, I am grateful it's attacking the bad cells! Always gotta look at the bright side!!

Sooooo, on day 5, a few wispy strands were all that was left. :(

My head looked just like the pictures I'd seen on the internet of 'c' patients.

Ugh, I was that person. I am that person... I am a 'c' patient! Sometimes I forget!

I tried to make these pitiful wispy strands look like they were 'something', while at the same time being super careful not to mess with them too much as I knew there was a good chance they may all end up in my hand. It was pointless.

I only had one choice left...

I contacted my amazing hairdresser, the one who gave me a cute haircut just 3 weeks ago. She made me a special early morning appointment so I could avoid being around 'others', and she gently, carefully, and with the most compassion, she removed the pitiful wispy strands.

It was a rough day, but I am so very grateful for her... thank you YHK!

So yes, I have a new look.

It's just taking a little time to get used to.

Please understand that I'm not quite ready to share it.

In the meantime, I have a few head-toppers that are doing a great job keeping my melon warm. And she did say I have a nice-shaped head... who knew? But I'm happy to know it is!!

As this is titled, I had a bad hair week...

but I know... it's just hair... and it'll grow back!

This is obvi the before!

And obvi again... gettin' my steps in and excited to walk all around the world!

My beautiful sister, I'm reading the steps of your journey and I see in every post you make the same strength as our mother!!! You have the complete package!

Maybe because you are the first of our mother's children, I don't know...

The only thing that I know is that you are in our hearts and in our mind every step of the way!

You are right! It just hair! Nothing is more important than the person you are!

Stay strong and everything will be okay!
