Chemo Day 1

Scared but ready, Anxious but ready, Overwhelmed but ready!!!

Being Greek... I come from a family of strong women... I know that now! I also know that this disease chose the wrong woman!! The Greek Goddess Athena known as the Goddess of War, was the most courageous of Olympian Gods. I was born in Athens, so I've chosen her to be my inspiration. This Greek is ready to battle!

  • Meds... check

  • Breakfast... check

So off we go... with my private Uber driving me to my appointment :) and yes, because of COVID no one else is allowed to enter... I'm going it alone! :(

But I'm going with the hundreds of beautiful, heartfelt well-wishes via texts, emails, messenger messages, special deliveries, and phone calls, from all over the world. I cherish each and every one of them. So I may be by myself physically during my treatments, but I know you're with me!

It's go time...

  • Vitals all good!

  • Detailed review of every step about to be taken!

  • 1st Chemo med... took about 10 minutes ~ I didn't feel a thing!

  • 30 minute break

  • 2nd Chemo med... took about 1 1/2 hours ~ same as above... I didn't feel a thing!

I kept busy all morning with my awesome bag of goodies, sweet treats, wore my adorable fuzzy socks! Thank you to the special people in my life who brought me these treats... you know who you are!! G ~ B ~ P <3

I came home, felt great, so 'went to work'... why not, right? Had a lovely but small dinner, not because I didn't want to eat more, but because I'm supposed to have 6 smaller meals throughout the day. And so far I've downed 64 oz of water, and 20 oz (so far) of Gatorade. I've surpassed my daily intake of fluids for the first time!! I'm learning to like water (not, but I will do this because I have to!) It's now 9:00 p.m. and I'm still feeling good... I feel very blessed right now. Thank you Lord for this day.

Next:

I realize side effects are coming, just not sure what or when. I will post if it's something I feel I can write about. I am now officially on lockdown as I can't take any chances of catching anything. This will be soooooooooo hard for me to not see people in person. Zoom, FaceTime, FaceBookMessenger will be my link to faces for the next few months! I'm thankful I love my house and that I have a big back yard for my personal training course... there's always something to be thankful for!

My next treatment is Dec 21.
